Creative Arts STEAM Program

Our First Job Training Program

Launched in 2001 under our former organization, Club No Youth Foundation, the Creative Arts STEAM Program is our longest-running youth development initiative—empowering young people to explore careers in the creative and entertainment industries through hands-on training and mentorship.

The program integrates Script Writing, Television Production, Entertainment Management, Acting, and Media to prepare youth and young adults ages 16–24 for real-world opportunities in the growing fields of film, television, and digital arts.

Participants gain practical experience in all aspects of production—from writing and directing to on-camera performance and post-production—while learning the business and management skills necessary to succeed in the entertainment industry. Through project-based learning and collaboration with industry professionals, students develop confidence, creativity, and leadership that translate into sustainable career pathways.

For over two decades, the Creative Arts STEAM Program has inspired innovation, talent, and purpose—helping Chicago’s youth transform their creativity into opportunity and their ideas into action.

Our Impact: Two Decades of Inspiring Youth Through...

Creative Arts and Media

Since 2001, our Creative Arts STEAM Job Training Program has empowered Chicago youth to explore their creativity, build confidence, and develop real-world career skills through hands-on experience in Script Writing, Television Production, Entertainment Management, Acting, and Media.

Our inaugural youth-led project, “Teens Keeping It Real,” was a groundbreaking talk show created by and for teens to encourage positive choices and critical thinking. Designed to help youth “think before they react,” the program inspired teens to say yes to higher education and no to drugs, guns, gangs, and violence.

Filmed before live high school audiences across 10 Chicago-area schools, Teens Keeping It Real featured a teen host, celebrity guests, and student actors—all trained through our partnership with Act One Studios. Youth participants handled every aspect of production, from filming to editing, gaining valuable technical and leadership experience.

The show premiered in October 2011 on WJYS-TV, earning enthusiastic reviews and requests from additional schools throughout the city and suburbs. The program also captured the attention of WCIU-TV’s General Manager, Neil Sabin, who praised the initiative for its profound impact on Chicago’s youth and expressed interest in bringing the program to a broader audience.

Over the years, more than 90% of graduates from the Creative Arts STEAM Program have continued careers in television, film, acting, and music—proving that creativity, when nurtured with purpose, can lead to lifelong success.

Now, as we prepare to relaunch “Teens Keeping It Real” in January 2026 as part of our winter STEAM job training series, we continue our mission to empower the next generation of youth leaders, storytellers, and changemakers—helping them turn their vision into viable careers and their voices into vehicles for change.
